I tried Googling, and can’t see any reported issues like this around Catalina and SMB. That shouldn’t come as … Didn't have the issue with Catalina 10.15.1, but I now have the described issue with a Qnap and OS X 10.15.2. Now, when I browse to one of the FreeNAS shares on that machine, the MacOS Finder appears to hang when viewing SMB shares on FreeNAS. Before I did though, I decided to try living with Sierra for a while…Guess what, everything works, including games and other 32-bit apps I gave up on. Unfortunately, this is the only available workaround at this point. No problems with Kodi 17.6 in this scenario. I have have annoying inconsistent connection issues with Catalina client to both Catalina and Mojave as servers. Hopefully Apple releases a fix for this bug soon – but at least it's relatively easy to get around for now. I believe there is an issue with the Catalina SMB client (and/or its relationship with Finder) which causes issues. The bug seems specific to non-Apple SMB shares (we see it with Microsoft Server 2012r2), we can’t replicate it with OS X Server SMB shares.. To cut the cost, you can get it through Setapp and receive extra tools like Get Backup Pro and Endurance. I recently upgraded one of my Macs to MacOS Catalina. Fixes for such macOS Catalina problems are already on the way. In these machines Kodi 17.6 is ok with Catalina, Kodi 18.4 and 18.5 doesn't work. Kodi can browse but more slowly and cannot start the movie. The chflags system call no longer works correctly on 10.15.5 with regard to setting the special "firmlink" flag that establishes links betweent the System and Data volume group members. Download each file individually; If you cannot download folders from iCloud, download each file individually. I have just installed 10.15.2 beta 4 on my MacBook and, on the basis of one reboot, it is looking better. 2-Mac OS 10.14 Mojave; 3- Win 10 19.03 release, all as Kodi Clients, and a Catalina MacPro as samba server. MacOS Catalina brings plenty of new features and apps to get excited about, but as with all software updates, you can expect some bumps along the way.
